Hey Joseph, are you tired of this Mediterranean macho myth?
Basically, it is a common(and incorrect) perception that the best athletes in Europe are either Greeks, Terroni, or Southern Spaniards.
Jesus h Christ! Nothing could be further from the truth.
On the contrary, "Padanians" probably have more quality athletes per capita than anyone--at least that's how it was. Croats and Serbs--same idea. Drazen Petrovic is the best basketball player to have lived. Djokovic is the tennis Zeus. The top Spanish athletes tend to be Catalans and Basques--our relatives.
Italy's team kicked ass in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s thanks to them. Now, it's nearly ruined by affirmative action. Yes, Italy also has an affirmative action policy that caters to Napolitanians.
Roberto Baggio Alessandro del Piero Paolo Rossi Giuseppe Meazza Luigi Riva Gianluigi Buffon(he's Furlan)--he saved the team in 2006. Should I continue? Because I can.
What about all of the cyclists from Tuscany and Emilia? What about the current basketball team---make no mistake, Andrea Bargnani is half Lombard half Romanesco(I think).
What about all of the Romagnol racers like Loris Capirossi and Marco Simoncelli(RIP)? Who said our folk could't take risks and the heat? Well, crazed Mediterranists.
The Florentines have been playing the world's most dangerous game since medieval times(Calcio Fiorentino). This is not the case with, well, anyone. lol
Again, who said courage was restricted to only the Mediterraneans in Europe?
In fact, I would argue, they are collectively the least courageous folk on the continent given their continous occupation by Saracens, Turks, Angevins, Normans, various Germanic dynasties, etc.

Is this the actual name of the show on History Channel, though?

Awesome Calcio Fiorentino action!

I don't know, I just saw it on YouTube. You might search "Etruscans" on their online store.
"Italy" always does very well in international sport, and it seem pretty clear because of Cisalpines (Padanians).
